46 miles, 74 kilometers, 0.0000000000078 light years

Yesterday I signed-up for the Walk to Defeat ALS here in Seattle, this September 26th. And guess what? Allison and Caroline are coming to visit me that weekend, and so is Bridget! We are doing it together as a team: "The Loucksersizers". I have been really touched by everyone's support thus far - thank you to all of you who have been able to donate. I feels really good.

So yeah, my sister is coming to visit!!! This is so incredibly super-awesome. A short visit, but it will definitely be a good one. I am starting to get really pumped!

Today I skipped work* (I can do that) in order to take a long bike ride with my new bike. I biked 46 miles!! I went up the Burke-Gilman Trail around Lake Washington, and then along and down the Sammamish River trail, which follows - you guessed it - the Sammamish River. This is an exciting accomplishment for me, as I have not biked for more than 20 miles in over 7 years!

I brought along my camera, planning to take pictures of the scenery along the way. But, I didn't check the status of the batteries, and of course after I took my first picture it died. So, all you get is this boring picture of where I stopped to eat lunch and read my book:

My bike is in there if you look closely. Twas a good ride, on a good new bike. I can only hope I won't be totally sore tomorrow...

AND TONIGHT I EAT QUESADILLA!!!
